Silk Road intends to be a ‘best practice’ music label in its relationship with its artists and licensees, respectful of every one’s rights and transparent in its accounting practices. Artistically, we invest in South Asian artists who have a crossover potential and license music from independent, cutting edge international labels for distribution in South Asia. We produce music that we like for those who live life on their own terms, with a free spirit and intelligent ears; all those who are inquisitive and daring enough to venture into untracked emotions and journey to both the outermost limits and innermost recesses of their heart. We produce albums that, like good books, will accompany you through life. |

Namgyal Lhamo was trained from the age of 10, for fourteen long years, under the most famous music and opera masters from the old Tibet. She went on to become the star performer of the Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts set up by H. H. the Dalai Lama. Her interpretations of the Nangma and the Toeshe, Tibetan classical songs from the 17th century, have been universally acclaimed and she has been christened The Nightingale of Tibet. After collecting and perpetuating the ancient Tibetan musical traditions, she has become active as a songwriter and worked on the soundtrack of Jean-Jacques Annaud’s Seven Years in Tibet. |

54 Nude Honeys Produced by legendary punk pioneer Marc Zermati (The Clash, Iggy Pop…) on his new record label Skydog, 54 Nude Honeys - Japan’s punk glam erotic rock trio - unleash their estrogen unto the unsuspecting male dominion of punk rock. Searing fleshy guitars, thunderous drums and distinctly raw vocal lines drag you through fiery tracks like Wild Girl, Have Love Will Travel and Hot Generation. "...The band rocks in a simple straightforward manner. They make no bones about it! It’s an impressively strong band."(rockofjapan.com) "...Toward the end of the set, a fight broke out. It was broken up quickly, and most people were so fascinated by the band, they paid it little notice. The band completely ignored it. No one could stop them when they’ve got hot!" Baby Sitar The magic of the sitar brings peace to baby and all the family. It is wellknown that babies to-be-born can hear external sounds and melodies from the womb of their mother. And many studies have revealed the important role of music in the development of a new-born baby’s creative faculties and positive emotional souvenirs. The “emotional memory” is the foundation for the positive development of intelligence and imagination. All the tunes on this album have been rendered only using sounds within the range of frequencies accessible to a baby’s delicate ears. To be played to children from 3 months before birth up to 24 months after birth (but recommended for adults too!) Category: New Age |
