Namgyal Lhamo originally hails from Shigatse in Tibet.
She was born into a family that was rich in the arts. Her uncle, the famous Toepa  Chola Damdu, was a renowned musician from Lhasa.
A natural born singer, Namgyal took to singing at a very young age and was chosen to be trained at the Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts in Dharamsala
(India) established by His Holiness, the Dalai Lama, to preserve the cultural identity of Tibetans.
She soon became the lead singer of the TIPA Opera and toured the world.
Namgyal Lhamo expanded her creative sphere by taking up teaching at the institute and imparting the intricacies of her craft to aspiring young Tibetan singers.
Lhamo’s training and discipline over the years has given rise to an exclusive sound that emits multi layering within her vocal pitches that create a rich ambience that often reflects their highland origin.
Namgyal Lhamo performs solo and is accompanied on stage by her voice, the Tibetan lute (dranyen) and her independent spirit.

Pure is my epicentre. It is at the very core of the echoes that vibrate from the roof of the world. A land that will forever remain an enigma. My Tibet.
Namgyal Lhamo

Arguably the best Tibetan traditional singer of our times. Her voice is absolute, pure and independent.
Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy (India’s leading songwriters)

Tibet enters your soul when you reach the penultimate track. The depth of Namgyal Lhamo’s voice results from her untiring journey through a sacred space. […] She conquers time to infuse past musical influences with contemporary interpretations, resulting in pure magic. Not an album for casual listeners. […] Silk Road Communications, known as a label for respected artistes, presents a gift that will surely touch your heart.
